AbaF Awards 2008 in Queensland - winners
QantasLink Regional Award: Queensland Gas Company (QGC) and the La Boite Theatre Company

Queensland Gas Company (QGC) and the La Boite Theatre Company won the QantasLink Regional Award for their Drama at the Gasfields production of “Long Gone Lonesome Cowgirls” set in the Chinchilla region.
The QGC and La Boite wanted to build on last year’s Toyota Community Award win to create an annual event in the Surat region. QGC staff built a permanent outdoors amphitheatre to stage the event which enabled La Boite actors to rehearse and prepare for the production.
Queensland Gas Company and La Boite Theatre Company are also national finalists in the City of Melbourne Encouragement Award.
Marsh Partnering Award: Brookfield Multiplex Portside Wharf development and Artworkers Alliance

The Brookfield Multiplex Portside Wharf partnered with Queensland Artworkers Alliance to create a vibrant, community space through its Public Art Program.
The three-tiered program offers artists the ability to exhibit and experiment in public space and the opportunity to increase their reputation and gain commission.

Ms Sangeetha Jaganathan of IBM was able to put a technology plan in place for the Queensland Ballet which could be integrated into the Ballet’s 2008-2010 business plan.

Staging Drama at the Gasfields for a second year running is part of an ongoing shared commitment to working in and supporting regional Queensland communities. This year Queensland Gas Company staff pitched in to create an outdoor theatre that will be a permanent asset to the community.
These winners and finalists will go on to compete in the national AbaF Awards to be announced on 16 October in Sydney.
