The Perth Hills and Wheatbelt Band is made up of young musicians from many different suburbs in the Perth hills region and wheatbelt towns. The band includes high school students, primary school students, graduated high school students and mentoring muscians.
Established in 2007 in Northam, the band won a silver award at the International Music Festival at the Sydney Opera House in 2008. As a result of the award, the band was invited to represent WA at the World Youth Music Carnival as part of the World Expo in Shanghai and Beijing in China in July 2010.
The band aims to provide
inspirational musical experiences for students and a community based arts organisation that provides opportunities for young musicians who have left high school to continue playing music.
The band has been accepted into the Pacific Basin Music Festival in Hawaii in March 2012. Only 10 bands world-wide are accepted into this event each year.
