Drawing Lines in the Sand is an exhibition on Cockatoo Island from 19th February to 18th March 2012

Drawing Lines in the Sand is an exhibition on Cockatoo Island from 19th February to 18th March 2012.  The exhibition, curated by Claire Taylor, brings together Julia Davis, Elizabeth Day, Christian Edwardes, Geoff Kleem, Lisa Jones / Derek Allan, and Adam Norton to create installation works that reflect on the legacy of the island’s multilayered history.  The artworks explore conditions of interiority and exteriority from a perspective that encompasses contradictory and conflicting extremes: a geographic imaginary particular to the Island Continent.

The exhibition is presented by Peloton Inc., a small not-for-profit artist-run initiative, which currently has two gallery spaces in Chippendale and has been operating for 7 years.  Peloton has given crucial exhibition opportunities to hundreds of new and emerging artists in this time, as well as providing established artists with an experimental platform.

How you can help
Drawing Lines in the Sand
is assisted by the NSW Government through Arts NSW and Peloton has secured several project partners to support the project, including the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust.  However, we are still looking to raise $10,000 towards the artists' production costs.  Any contributions towards this total will make a significant difference to the overall project and substantially assist the individual artists.

Supporting this project is also an opportunity to foster the burgeoning field of contemporary art exhibitions staged in alternative public venues.
