Originating from country Victoria, Emily moved to Melbourne to study a Diploma of Arts – Small Companies and Community Theatre.
During her time in Melbourne she appeared in The Emperor of Atlantis (Opera, North Melbourne Town Hall), Moomba and The Short and Sweet Festival 2006. She was a founding member of the physical theatre trio The Ladder Co-operative who were runners up in 3D Fest ‘04 (CUB Malthouse/ Victoria University).
Since moving to Tasmania, Emily has performed in various shows, events and groups: such as 2nd Echo Ensemble (Tas Theatre comp. and Cosmos Recreation), founding member of The Short Back and Side Show (Backspace Theatre, Taste Festival 08/09 and Falls Festival 09/10), Dream Masons (Is theatre/10 days on the Island) and The Wind in the Willows and Stepping Out with Hobart Rep.
Emily also performs regularly as ‘Madam Goulash’ and ‘Maurice Lombardo’ (Cabaret) at various comedy and cabaret nights (Hobart), burlesque/cabaret events and private functions both locally and interstate.
In 2010 Emily travelled with Terrapin Puppet Theatre to Shanghai, China to devise and perform When the pictures came, which resulted in a tour to the Come Out Children’s Festival, Adelaide and 10 Days on the Island Festival, Hobart. Emily went on to perform The Waltzing Tree with Terrapin Puppet Theatre, which toured state-wide.
Emily was recently seen as part of the Festival of Voices 2011 at Voices of Vice where she performed three characters. It was a sell out show, which received rave reviews.
Emily continues to write, produce and perform her own comedic work and has just completed a second state tour of Three Blind Dates Cabaret, a show written, performed and produced by three local independent artists.
Emily was employed full time as a puppeteer and performer for the Terrapin Puppet Theatre based in Hobart. It was through Artistic Director Frank Newman that she learnt of the type of training Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre had to offer.
There is no training even similar that is offered in Australia. His suggestion, coupled with the desire to challenge herself as a comedic performer and creator lead her to apply for Dell’Arte’s Professional Training Program. Emily feels that the next step is to be taken in her performance career and the training offered at Dell’Arte will provide this.
This opportunity will allow Emily to train with world-class lecturers and performers. This type of training will be beneficial to her as a performer attempting to become more ‘professional’, to develop her skills as a performer and collaborator and to gain more performance work locally, nationally and internationally.
She hopes to bring these experiences back to Hobart audiences and other theatre makers and believes that this professional development will benefit the Tasmanian performance community through sharing what she has learnt and through collaborating with other performers.

How you can help:
The support of some generous individuals have helped Emily confirm her place at Dell’Arte International, however she still requires further assistance with her flights and insurance to get to Dell’Arte in North California. All donations, no matter how big or small, will be of great support. This is a wonderful opportunity for a Tassie based comedian and only the beginning of a very promising career.
