Elena Xanthoudakis studied at the Victorian College of the Arts and the University of Melbourne before undertaking further study in Italy and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Winner of many international competitions including the Maria Callas Grand Prix and the International Mozart Competition, Elena sings in many of the world’s most respected Opera Houses including the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, English National Opera, Maggio Musicale and Scottish Opera - makes her career primarily between Europe and at home in Australia
Elena also makes up part of the ensemble 'Trio KROMA' (with Jason Xanthoudakis on Clarinet and Clemens Leske on Piano) who were in the recording studio last year bringing to life rare chamber works. Many of these works have only been recorded once before and some, like those Elena discovered in the British Library and in Vienna, have never been heard on disc. They are a charming selection of mostly unknown gems that deserve greater exposure and are a delightful example of where Art song meets Salon music of the German Romantic tradition. The CD will feature music by composers such as Schubert, Lachner, Spaeth, Proch and Kalliwoda.
Elena is seeking donations towards the remaining costs of CD editing and production (c.$6000) to release this chamber disc with Trio KROMA and a publicity tour ($8000). We are working towards completing the disc by the end of the year and releasing the CD early 2012. We are planning a tour around March 2012. Can you help us?
