AbaF generates $20 million in private sector support for the arts
The total value of private sector support for the arts generated and facilitated by AbaF since its inception has passed $20 million, AbaF chairman Terry Campbell has announced.
The figure is made up of $12.7 million in new business-arts partnerships facilitated by AbaF, $4.1 million worth of expertise through volunteering placements and $3.2 million in donations to the arts paid out as grants by AbaF.
"It's very pleasing that we have reached this milestone," Mr Campbell said. "Although this is not the only measure by which we gauge AbaF's success, it is an important one.
“In the last financial year 2006-7 alone, AbaF generated $4.3 million in support for the arts.
"Since its inception AbaF has also provided training and professional development to more than 6000 people in the arts sector in areas including sponsorship, securing donations and business skills. The ongoing value of this training to the sector is substantial.”
AbaF was set up in 2000 to promote private sector support for the arts.
AbaF is funded by the Commonwealth Government through the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.
