AbaF E-News December 2007

News from the field of private sector relationships with the arts.

This is Edition 22 of AbaF's free national email newsletter carrying news and research about private sector relationships with the arts in Australia.

GIVING

  • Have you got an arts project you'd love to find philanthropic support for? Helen Noonan did just that for her critically acclaimed show, Voicing Emily, funded almost entirely by philanthropy. Performer, creator and producer Helen Noonan speaks to Enews about her creative approach to raising money.

PARTNERING

  • Vegemite is giving children a taste of reading through the Vegemite Little Aussie Readers, thanks to a partnership with the Little Big Book Club. E-News spoke to the people behind this huge community-based partnership.

VOLUNTEERING

  • David Stokes is something of a Renaissance man - a finance manager with ANZ, he is also a poet and artist. As a volunteer with adviceBank he helped an SA arts company secure a new space, then was invited to exhibit his own work there. David spoke to E-News about combining corporate knowledge with a passion for the arts.

IN THE NEWS

  • Non-profits ignore new money, says fundraiser (Australian p.38, 10/12/07) by Simon Canning
Not-for-profit organisations that rely on corporate sponsorship and philanthropy are not doing enough to build relationships with donors, Taronga Zoo’s head of fundraising has warned.
  • Eight arts managers around Australia have received AbaF scholarships worth $79,000 in total, towards the cost of executive education at leading business schools.
  • Everything from er-tic art to footy and rock'n'roll can be found in AbaF's 2007 Gold Book, chock full of stories about successful business arts partnerships, volunteering and giving. Request your free copy now!
