Jane Evelyn is a young dramatic soprano from Queensland

Jane has recently been accepted to the Royal Scottish Alexander Gibson Opera School where she will be supported by a Royal Scottish Award.

She completed her bachelor degree at the Queensland Conservatorium where she was the recipient of a number of different awards including the Queensland Wagner Society Scholarship.

Jane worked with Opera Queensland from 2006-07 and won a number of national awards that allowed her to accept a position in the Master of Music program at the world renowned Royal College of Music in London, UK. As a scholar of the program, Jane was able to fine tune her skills in language, singing technique and movement whilst performing regularly.

In September 2010, Jane will begin her final stage of study which will enable her to enter the operatic world with all of the tools and experience necessary for an international career. The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama offers a specialized program within an opera school setting that is associated with the Royal Scottish Opera Company. Unlike other areas of academic study, high-level practice-based opera training is very rare. There are strong and regular collaborations with professional companies such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra and offers the opportunity of public performance practice at a professional standard, creating significant media coverage. With regular reviews of performances from magazines and newspapers such as Opera Now and The Times, the Royal Scottish Alexander Opera School attracts some of the world's most talented up and coming opera singers.
